Introduction

PC Talking Typing Tutor is designed to help people with visual impairments and some types of learning disabilities learn how to type. The program provides speech output and adjustable font size, font face and colors for text information displayed on the screen so users can customize the program to their own needs. The tutorial options can be selected through a simple menuing system that requires the use of a small number of keys. When typing mistakes are made, the tutorial provides information on what key was actually typed, the key that the user should have typed and how far way the two keys are from each other. The site license version of the product allows for the management of several different students.

Lessons

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Personal version and Educational version?
The Personal version of PC Talking Typing Tutor is licensed to an individual and the license cannot be transferred to any other individual. Educational licensed version The educational version is licensed to a computer and any number of students can use the one version. The educational version has additional features to handle multiple users and also can publish more detailed information about typing and change practice options.
Is Talking Typing Tutor Compatible with Windows 2000 or Windows Me?
Yes
What if my keyboard does not have the same layout as the default keyboard layout included with Talking Typing Tutor?
The keyboard can be changed and contact the developer for getting a keyboard layout compatible with your computer. A software program to allow people to create their own custom keyboard configurations is under development.
Can I use Talking Typing Tutor with a Screen Review program?
You need to turn off the screen review programs speech to use Talking Typing Tutor. PC Talking Typing Tutor uses its own speech and you currently can't turn it off. I do plan to add a feature to turn off speech, so it could be used with a screen review program in the future. I did not include this as an initial feature since most people using the program will probably not be very familiar with screen review programs and therefore add to the complexity of using Talking Typing Tutor to develop keyboarding skills.
